The core support of drone optical cable technology on the Ukrainian battlefield
1. Breaking through the electronic warfare blockade
The Russian electronic warfare system once suppressed more than 90% of the Ukrainian army's wireless communication equipment, while optical fiber communication transmits signals through physical cables, which is completely immune to electromagnetic interference and signal blocking, allowing Ukrainian drones to stably perform reconnaissance and strike missions in a strong interference environment.
The Ukrainian army uses optical fiber-guided drones (such as the "Starling" model) to achieve real-time high-definition video feedback within 8 kilometers, and accurately delivers 3.5 kg of ammunition, significantly improving the damage efficiency of Russian armored targets.
2. Countering the threat of Russian optical fiber drones
For the large-scale use of optical fiber drones such as the "Prince Vandal" by the Russian army (20 kilometers of optical fiber guidance), the Ukrainian army uses special optical observation technology to identify optical fiber reflections, reversely locate and destroy the Russian control team.
The Ukrainian Ministry of Defense has promoted 25 local teams to develop autonomous optical fiber drones, and plans to achieve quantitative balance with the Russian army in the fall of 2025 to break the technological generation gap
