Fiber optic drones are also wired. Fiber optic drones are controlled by fiber optic cables. This design enables drones to work normally in electronic warfare environments and transmit high-definition images. Fiber optic drones are usually equipped with a fiber optic spool with up to 40 kilometers of thin optical fiber wound on the spool. This roll of optical fiber can be unrolled through the spool in the air without breaking.
Advantages of fiber optics: extremely high bandwidth and transmission speed, low signal loss, long transmission distance, and no electromagnetic interference.
Disadvantages of electronics: susceptible to electromagnetic interference, relatively limited transmission bandwidth and speed, and signal transmission may be affected in certain environments (such as mountainous areas and densely built areas).
Security
• Fiber optics: Since the signal is enclosed in the optical fiber, it is not easy to be intercepted or interfered with, and has higher confidentiality and security.
• Electronics: The signal is transmitted in the air, which is relatively easy to be intercepted or interfered with, and has lower confidentiality and security.
